The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission GAP is encouraging all greyhound owners and trainers to retire your retired racers with us.
The COVID-19 period has been a boon for adoptions leaving us needing more dogs to adopt out to loving Queensland homes, both in South East and in North Queensland.
In particular, there has been a big demand for greyhounds that might be suitable for apartment living.
The GAP team wants to let you know that we take brood female dogs into the program after they have finished their breeding career and it is these dogs that can be the best suited to apartment life.
GAP operations manager Leah Handy said she would love to hear from trainers who have brood bitches to retire.
“These older female greyhounds are generally calm and quiet and are happy to spend time alone so they are perfect for life in a smaller home or apartment,” she said.
Contact the GAP team and discuss your retiring dogs, we would love to hear from you, in particular if you have not retired your greyhounds with GAP before.
Our list of Queensland trainers is getting longer and we would love to add you to the group. Contact us on 1300 087 021 or email gap@qric.qld.gov.au .
