After Covid 19 took care of the 2020 and 2021 Nationals it is fantastic to be able to announce that the Nationals Championships will return in 2022 under the banner of ‘Sensational Sydney’ in late August.

The Nationals Sprint and Distance Championships grand finals will be conducted at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, August 27, with the National Straight Track Championship grand final to be held at Richmond on Saturday morning, August 27.

‘Sensational Sydney’ promises to be a celebration of the greyhound industry and will no doubt provide many in the industry and opportunity to catch up in person with fellow greyhound racing participants and administrators for the first time in a long time.

The GCA Awards night will be held on Friday night, August 26, and GCA is pleased to announce that the broodbitch of the year award will be named in honor of the late Paul Wheeler – an appropriate recognition of the impact that Paul had on the breeding landscape in this country.

Details of all activities and events that make up the Nationals celebration will be available shortly.

Those in the industry are well aware of the community aspect of greyhound racing and that connection was on full show in Victoria over Easter with Greyhound Racing Victoria, the Victorian clubs and industry participants nationwide combining to raise more than $120,000 for the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital during the Good Friday Appeal.

This is just one of many examples around the country of the connection the greyhound racing industry has to the broader community and its charitable and supportive traits.

On the track, congratulations to the Broken Hill Club for an outstanding Cup carnival that showcased the attributes of country greyhound racing on the global stage – hats off to the club and GRNSW to be able to elevate the two weekends of the Cup carnival to TAB and Sky Channel coverage.

A reminder to participants to follow and share the greyhound facts social media pages (Ozgreyhoundfacts on facebook and instragram and greyhound_facts on twitter) – some fantastic stories are unfolding on a daily basis that show what a remarkable industry we are a part of.

The more we share these stories the better understanding the public has of true nature of the industry and those involved.
