TEN YEARS AGO – JANUARY 2011:

KILTY LAD, a son of Superman, wins the  Gr1 Silver Chief at The Meadows and Gr1 Adelaide Cup for trainer Kelly Bravo. Second home in both races was the Darren McDonald-trained Perfect Fancy.

SEEK AND DESTROY for Anthony Azzopardi wins the Gr 1 Association Cup over 720 metres at Wentworth Park. Queensland icon Dashing Corsair finished second.

EL GRAND SENOR wins the Gr2 Warragul Cup for Carolyn Jones. It was an outstanding field. Vee Best Vane and Radley Bale filled the placings. Among the unplaced runners were group one winners Enry Walt and High Earner.

TWENTY YEARS AGO – JANUARY 2001:

BRETT LEE wins the Gr1 Adelaide Cup by six lengths. The Darren McDonald trained star set a track record of 28.88, a record which still stands.

FLASH JOAN trained by Ray and Ruth King wins the Gr2 Association Cup (720m)s at Wentworth Park. The daughter of Malawi’s Prince beat Make Haste and Kirk’s Choice.

RENZO BALE for Tom Dailly wins the Gr 3 Bendigo Cup over 545 metres. First prize for owner Paul Wheeler was $16,000. It was a four lengths victory over Railroad Wish and Rich Hano.

THIRTY YEARS AGO- JANUARY 1991:

COOL MARVEL (Tony Zammit), Western Creole (Owen Lockett) and Tusitu (Jeff Jones) announced as 1990 Queensland Greyhound of the Year finalists.

THE GABBA GRC reported a record surplus of $273,178, an increase of 41 per cent on the previous year. Jim Neary was the club president and Mick Cox the general manager.

MIKARZA MAGIC, owned by Brisbane car dealer and subsequent GRA chairman Rod Lowe, wins the Toowoomba Cup (457m), trained by Ron Johnson. First prize was $5,000. Charm Tears finished second.
