Location update a key responsibility

By Mark Ainsworth APM, Acting Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner

While most greyhound owners are diligent about updating the location of their greyhound, there have been instances of greyhounds not having their locations updated.

With the Queensland Winter Greyhound Racing Carnival well underway, QRIC Stewards anticipate there will continue to be an increase in interstate competitors during the carnival.

As a reminder, all participants are required to comply with the Greyhound Australasian Rules of Racing (GAR). The following rule specifically relates to the location of greyhounds.

GAR105 Notification of control and location of greyhound

Except in the circumstances described in sub-rule (6) a greyhound shall at all times be kept at the registered address of its trainer or owner unless permission to do otherwise is first obtained from the Controlling Body.

It’s imperative that all participants make themselves familiar with the GA rule 105. This rule outlines that owners and trainers are responsible for notify the QRIC Stewards of the location of their greyhound.

This is particularly important for the greyhounds entering Queensland from other states. If your greyhound is travelling to Queensland from interstate at any point during the carnival, the Stewards must be advised of the registered kennel address, which licensed trainer oversees them and how long they will be at that location.

Please notify the Stewards of these details at greyhoundstewards@qric.qld.gov.au.

It’s also important to remember that industry participants have a responsibility to update the location of their greyhound when transferring ownership and premises whether that be permanently or temporarily.

Change of kennel location notifications can be submitted online through Randle.
