MICHAEL Lill describes More Sauce as ‘perfect in every way’.
Yes, Michael, and his wife Michelle, are a tad biased when it comes to the son of Keybow-Ness Quick by Elite Blue Size.
The lightning sprinter started 43 times for 24 wins and 10 seconds earning $97,000 along the way.
They have retired him to stud and are backing themselves that he will be a success.
The couple has every right to believe just that.
More Sauce goes to stud boasting credentials few can match and with a determination to win not seen in most rivals.
“He dropped a back muscle twice, you know,” said Michael.
“And came back as a four-year-old to run 22.20 around Maitland.”
More Sauce won the Grafton Sprinters Cup, ran a track record at Goulburn, was second in G2 Maitland Cup and the G2 Black Top and a finalist in the G2 Traralgon Cup.
He could run, and run like the wind.
It took super strong Zipping Kyrgios to run him down in the Black Top in 29.28 (More Sauce ran 29.44 himself), and Group star Ebby Jet Power to grab him on the line in the Maitland Cup.
He won everywhere the Lill’s took him and ran lightning fast time there as well.
More Sauce comes from a litter of five, four of them winners and those four were all racetrack stars.
Think his kennelmate Casual Glance (31 wins, $119,000) and Robbie Rotten (17 wins, $116,000).
Casual Glance ran a track record at Gosford, was second in the G3 Goulburn Cup, third in the G2 Gosford Cup, Grafton Sprinters Cup and a finalist in the G2 Maitland Cup, G2 Black Top, G3 Bob Payne and the Listed Dubbo Cup.
Robbie Rotten won the G2 Warragul Cup, was second in the G2 Shepparton Cup and a finalist in the G2 Ballarat Cup and G3 Easter Gift and the Southern Stars.
Michael Lill says it is a family he and Michelle have had for years and ‘it just keeps on throwing fast dogs’.
Never a truer statement was said.
Their dam Ness Quick (Elite Blue Size-Thickness by Hallucinate) won 10 races at Tamworth, The Gardens, Maitland, Gosford. Her littermate Hot Sauce won 14 races.
Their dam, Thickness (Hallucinate-Special Sauce by Tambray Gravy) was a litter sister to Big Bunga (26 wins, $91,000), who Jason Mackay took to victory in the G2 Tweed Galaxy.
Special Sauce won 14 races for Michael and Michelle Lill.
More Sauce’s direct female line is that of the famed producer and pedigree dominant Paris Match (Bother Fox-Osti’s Shadow).
Paris Match, of course, is in the damline of such greats as Hallucinate and Where’s Pedro, and also the direct damline of now stud sensation Aussie Infrared.
Michael and Michelle know only too well the ability of their dog.
“He was never led,” said Michael. “Yes, he was perfect in every way. He broke 22 three times at Maitland and went under 25 seconds there as well.
“His temperament is superb. We’ve had his semen tested and it is high quality.”
More Sauce will stand at a stud fee of $990 and be available for natural matings.
So, just what sort of bitches should suit More Sauce?
He’s a son of Keybow who has already shown an affinity when mating bitches with Bombastic Shiraz in their make-up.
More Sauce traces directly to Undermatched whose daughters Dusty Retreat and Magic Capers have done well with Collision, Bombastic Shiraz, Brett Lee, Where’s Pedro, Magic Sprite, High Earner etc.
Magic Capers’ daughter, Magic Earner has done well with Fernando Bale, Larkhill Jo.
Obviously, all these bloodlines are going to suit More Sauce.
But, he can also mate bitches by Aussie Infrared whose own best progeny often boast a reinforcement of the Paris Match family.
Daughters of Barcia Bale will be an obvious choice for More Sauce. It will duplicate Hallucinate and that is a proven recipe for success among Barcia Bale progeny.
In fact, More Sauce’s 2nd dam Thickness is bred on a reverse cross of Go Wild Teddy/Hallucinate to Barcia Bale. This will allow any number of daughters of Barcia Bale to suit More Sauce.
More Sauce’s damsire, Elite Blue Size, was a scorching sprinter, but sold to China after just a handful of matings. He is from the Queen Size damline and this, too, is found in the damline of current boom Victorian sire Bernardo.
Daughters of Bernardo should be ideal for More Sauce.
Bitches boasting 500m plus strength will suit More Sauce.
This can be picked up via daughters of strength sires My Bro Fabio and My Redeemer both of whom have Where’s Pedro in their damline.
Dyna Tron bitches, or those with Lansley Bale in their pedigree, will suit because Lansley Bale has just a fabulous ‘nick’ with Elusive Rebel (dam of Hallucinate in More Sauce).
More Sauce does not have one outcross influence in his first five generations. That, obviously, means bitches with an outcross influence in their pedigree can be mated to him.
The Undermatched damline has done well with Larkhill Jo, who just happens to be the damsire of Fabregas.
The outcross influence in Fernando Bale’s sireline too will make his daughters an ideal match for More Sauce.
Michael and Michelle Lill have huge faith in their dog. They know his pace, know his family, know his temperament.
As Michael says: “Everything about him is perfect”.
