The North Queensland GAP is proud that its new facility at Black River is now complete, up and running and ready for greyhound adoptions.
The North Queensland facility is located at the Black River Boarding kennels, 25 minutes north of Townsville which allows for easy access for adoptions and for greyhound racing industry participants to retire their greyhounds to GAP on intake days.
The GAP team is at the Black River kennels each day transitioning greyhounds to pet life.
The facility includes fully fenced long exercise yards, a large assessment yard and an undercover area for hydro bathing, and a relaxing garden where adoptive families can come and meet the GAP greyhounds.
North Queensland GAP coordinator Gail Lane said the new facility provided everything the team needed to facilitate adoptions.
“A key part of what we do is to match families with the greyhounds so having the garden area where people can come and meet the dogs is great, “she said.
“We also encourage those families that have other pets to bring them along to meet the greyhounds to ensure everyone gets along when they get home.”
