TWENTY YEARS AGO – NOVEMBER 2001:

CLASSIC CAPRI for owner/trainer Judy Hayley wins the Melbourne Cup in 29.65. First prize is $100,000.

ULTIMATE REBEL, trained by Jodie Harding, wins the Schweppes All Stars Sprint at Cannington. It’s a six lengths win for first prize of $20,000.

MERRI ROSE was Queensland’s Racing Minister.

THIRTY YEARS AGO – NOVEMBER 1991:

FOX HUNT trained by Peter Jovanovic wins the Melbourne Cup, worth $50,000 to the winner. He scored by nine lengths from box two in 30.50.

PACE GALORE, an outsider at 12-1 ($13), wins the Summer Cup over 720m at Wentworth Park for Michelle Mallia.

BEVERLEY BEHM has the 1991 Gabba Owners Premiership all sealed up with an unbeatable lead.
