Multiple winners By Mike Hill
IT has been a month of some outstanding training performances across the country.
The Rasmussen family rugged up six winners at a South Australian meeting, young Darwin trainer Steele Bolton led in five winners – twice – and South Australia\’s Tracie Price and Ashlee Griffiths, Tasmania\’s Anthony Bullock and North Queensland\’s Rhonda Essery also left meetings with five winners apiece.
But it didn\’t stop there.
Bullock also landed a winning quartet at Hobart and trebles at Devonport, Launceston and Hobart, while Paul Wasson (Coonamble), James Jeffries (Mandurah), Nicole Price (Gawler), Greg Board (Gawler), Greg Martin (Mandurah), Mark Delbridge (Ballarat and Warrnambool), Andrea Dailly (Ballarat) and Travis Elson (Albion Park) all returned home with four winners each.
The Rasmussens – Tony, Lisa and daughter Tara – led in their big six at a mid-month Murray Bridge meeting with Gifford Hill-based Tony rugging up a well-supported trio of Major Havoc ($2.50), Buddy Guy ($2.30) and Hali\’s Girl ($2.50), Lisa landed her short-priced double – Lucky Jay ($2.60) and Slick Riot ($2.30 fav) – and Tara was successful with $1.90 hot fancy Cawbourne Boomer.
Tara, a relatively new addition to the SA training ranks, is already making her mark in the sport.
Tony and Lisa were back in the money later in the month – Tony rugging up winning trebles at Angle Park and Murray Bridge and Lisa landing a trio at Angle Park.
Bolton, a young trainer who\’s no stranger to leading in multiple winners, rugged up his first five early in the month with Weeona Pearl ($5.10), Weeona Bec ($6.50), Sunset Inferno ($6,20), I\’m Not Leaving ($7.70) and Sunset Shieva ($2.10 fav) and a fortnight later was successful with Cawbourne Budgie ($29), Weeona Bec ($3.10), Lock In ($2.20 fav), Arcadia Star ($2.30 fav) and Cawbourne Shaker ($3.50).
Tracie Price, a leading trainer at Mt Gambier for many years, kicked off the month with five winners at his home track as well as six minor placings in a highly rewarding day.
And he would have been popular with punters as all his winners were well supported – Revved Up Rocket ($3.40), Wan Chai ($2.25 fav), Falcon Heavy ($4.60), Black Spring ($2.15 fav) and Elle Limes ($2.20 fav).
Bullock landed his \’big five\’ at Launceston with Bucephalus ($5), Bridwood Ali ($3.60 fav), Pink Turtle ($4.20), Dewana Macca ($3) and Roulette ($3), Essery\’s success came at Townsville with Dr Rayna ($4.40), Stratford ($1.60 fav), Dyna Waqa ($7), Well Indeed ($14) and Loose Lips Jack ($4.40), while Griffiths was successful at Murray Bridge with short-priced winners Solar System ($1.55 fav), Tania Bale ($3.30), Select Prize ($2.80), For The Thrill ($1.85 fav) and Uncle Drew ($2.60).
Winning trebles also came thick and fast across the country.
