Dog-lovers are encouraged to consider making room under their Christmas tree for a retired racing greyhound.

Four outstanding dogs – with more than $2 million in prizemoney between them – have been named as finalists in the NSW Greyhound of the Year, with the winner to be announced at a gala event next month.

Black Comanche, the Greg Stella flyer who set tongues wagging with sizzling early career stats, is back in the spotlight with an impressive heat performance on Thursday night at Albion Park, winning through to the final of the $37,500 Tiggerlong Tonk Group 3 Rising Stars (520m).
