WHILE new crop youngsters like star WA sprinter Electrified are carrying the flag for their sire Aussie Infrared, the top sire is proving a fertility dynamo.

Michael Eberand’s sprint star, by US great Bella Infrared-Ebby Miss 9by Head Bound), is running at a conception rate of 93.6 per cent since he first went to stud.

And, his average litter size in 7.36 pups.

Eberand provided figures to back up the Aussie Infrared reputation.

He had 95 inseminations to the end of October 2022 and 92 litters produced offspring at a conception rate of 97 per cent.

Some 677 pups were born making this an average litter size of 7.36 pups.

Aussie Infrared’s yearly stats of average litter size is:

2021 – average size 7.36; 2020 – 7.12; 2019 – 7.11 and 2018 – 7.67.

Aussie Infrared went to stud after a race career of 37 starts for 22 wins and seven placings earning $100,000.

He won the G2 Maitland Cup, the Victorian Coursing Derby, set a track record at Warrnambool, and made the final of the G2 Geelong Cup and G2 Healesville Cup.

His Maitland Cup victory was over a super field and he devastated his rivals.

Unheralded when he first retired to stud, he has sired some outstanding race dogs.

They include G1 stars Lala Kiwi (23 wins, $661,000) and Zipping Kyrgios (32 wins, $584,000), as well as Catch The Thief (25 wins, $254,000), Ebby Infrared (49 wins, $208,000), Electrified (17 wins, $148,000), Federal Infrared (22 wins, $135,000), Playlist (12 wins, $116,000) etc.

He is the sire of the winners of $7 million.

Eberand reports Aussie Infrared has had 250 inseminations to the end of October last year.

Of those 234 litters have been born.

Among the latest is a litter from Queensland sensation Sequana.

“The quality of bitches mated to him in recent times is phenomenal,” said Michael.
