PEDIGREE research is a fascinating thing for those of us who find it interesting.
Every single day the results of races worldwide can toss up successful pedigrees that teach us much about how to put together the bloodlines that bring about a winner or two.
Some recent examples of ‘interesting’ pedigrees are:
AMRON BOY
(Zambora Brockie-Miami Fernando by Fernando Bale)
He is an extra special greyhound who looks destined for Group success going on his fabulous pace and the fact he has already been second in the G2 Flying Amy Classic and a finalist in the G1 Maturity.
The fact he has twice won at Sandown in 29.07 means he has the sort of speed that makes him a potential stud dog.
I love his pedigree for just that future career.
He is a son of Zambora Brockie, the multiple Group winner and stud star until questions about his fertility arose.
But, Amron Boy is out of a daughter of Fernando Bale and if he went to stud now, he could provide a goldmine of opportunities for broodbitch owners.
That’s because that positioning of Fernando Bale in his pedigree is so dominant.
Everything that works with Fernando Bale ‘should’ work just as well for Amron Boy.
Also, his second dam Sacramento Sal is bred on the proven Kinloch Brae/Premier Fantasy cross.
RUSHES RAW
(My Redeemer-Moltisanti by Magic Sprite)
He’s been a finalist in the Champion Puppy at Angle Park and won there in a slick 30.25, a very hot time on the new-look track.
Many of the best progeny sired by My Redeemer have a reinforcement of the bloodlines of his mother Where’s Demonica.
This is exactly how Rushes Raw is bred.
His dam Moltisanti is bred on the very same Brett Lee/Bombastic Shiraz/Awesome Assassin cross as Where’s Demonica.
The saturation in this pedigree is via the famed Zulu Moss/Riviera Moss family which comes in via Bombastic Shiraz, Awesome Assassin and through Magic Sprite’s direct damline.
Interesting that Rushes Raw’s third dam Okay Supreme was a litter sister to superstar Velocette.
QUICK SMART
(Benali-Erelda Bale by David Bale)
The mention of Velocette above is also linked to Quick Smart and highly promising littermates who are by Benali whose dam is by Velocette.
Erelda Bale is a litter sister to champion Fanta Bale. Erelda Bale had litters by Cosmic Rumble and Fernando Bale and while they showed some ability, none was as good as the Benali litter.
I have to declare my hand here.
I’ve been friends with Noel Mugavin, owner and breeder of Benali, for many years. When Robbie Britton approached Noel about mating Erelda Bale to Benali, I tried to buy a pup or two – without success, unfortunately.
There is so much to like about the mating.
A 3×3 of the littermates Princess Bale and Bartrim Bale, a 5×5 double and balance of Fortress, but also a saturation of the Wheeler family’s famed Gail’s Beauty and Namor Star damlines.
SHOT OF RED
(Whiskey Riot-Myrniong Lana by Cosmic Rumble)
He’s a boom young pup from Anthony Azzopardi’s kennel and Anthony trained his famous dad.
The standout feature of this mating is a 3×3 of the famous half relations Collision and Spiritual Rumble and placed to greatly impact.
His dam Myrniong Lana carries a 3×3 of Brett Lee both crosses coming via daughters.
Putting her to a stud dog with Collision close up in his pedigree was a great move. Brett Lee and Collision have always done well when linked.
They both boast the Brother Fox/New Tears cross up close in their pedigree, but reversed.
I always believed Whiskey Riot would be ideal for matings with bitches that contained Cosmic Rumble.
This is the same for WA star West On Augie whose damsire is Cosmic Rumble. He will be ideal for bitches that have Collision up close in their pedigree.
LAUGHING LES
(Hasten Slowly-Pixie Dancer by Magic Sprite)
A very nice young dog and a recent finalist in the Molly Campbell Silver Dollars at Albion Park.
The standout feature of his pedigree is a 3×3 of the littermates, Talk’s Cheap and Glamorous (Spiral Nikita-Leprechaun Yap).
But what is even stronger in this mating is the fact that Leprechaun Yap’s third mother, National Dingaan, is incestuously in-bred to the littermates Chief Dingaan and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is also the fifth dam of Bombastic Shiraz who is found in the direct damline of Laughing Les.
The great Kiwi-bred multiple G1 winner Above All is bred along very similar lines … a saturation of the Zulu Moss family.
MOUNT VICTORIA
(Ritza Lenny-Mount Royal by Tuiaki)
A fast Wenty Park winner and finalist in the G3 Magic Maiden, Mount Victoria has an amazing pedigree.
Ritza Lenny, sire of Mount Victoria, has Lagoon Smylee as his second dam. She is by Premier Fantasy and from the famed Genuine Replica family.
Tuiaki, damsire of Mount Victoria, is also by Premier Fantasy and from the Genuine Replica family.
Lagoon Smylee and Tuiaki come into this pedigree 3×2 and placed to impact with each other.
