Racing Queensland (RQ) is due to notify participants of the timelines for the Bundaberg track renovation project in July 2022.

It is expected that the final race meeting in Bundaberg will be 25 July with the track renovation project to commence in August.

Racing Queensland intends for Ipswich to fill the Bundaberg Monday timeslot for the duration of the project period, and for Rockhampton to pick up an additional timeslot once a fortnight.

Complete race dates and programs for August will be provided to participants via the RQ website.

Origin fast approaching

The 2022 Origin Greyhound squads have been selected and the best sprinters and stayers from Qld and NSW will be vying for the final spots in the Origin Sprint, Origin Distance and Origin Match Race on 14 July.

Last year’s Origin Sprint winner, Orchestrate, returns to the Qld squad this year, along with Farmor Beach and Extra Malt. Last year’s Match Race winner and dual Group 1 winner, Jungle Deuce, is back in the squad for NSW and is looking to extend his unbeaten run at Albion Park. He’s joined by an array of talent, including She’s A Pearl, Good Odds Cash, Zipping Kyrgios and Respectability.

Final origin teams will be announced Friday, 8 July, following the Brisbane and Queensland Cup finals.

Greyhound Retirement Readiness Scheme

Racing Queensland has recently revised the eligibility requirements for the Greyhound Retirement Readiness Scheme. The scheme now includes greyhound’s that ‘had started in an Official Steward’s Trial or Race Meeting in Queensland within the last twelve (12) months prior to the date of application’, rather than the previous six (6) month timeframe.
