Chase’s MIKE HILL highlights trainers who have celebrated multiple winners in the past week

JEDDA Cutlack, one of several young  women making a significant mark in Queensland greyhound racing,  joined three other trainers who landed winning quartets at meetings across the country.

For Cutlack, who has started 2023 in a blaze of glory, it was her first four-win haul since picking up the lead and collar some four years ago.

The trainer, in her 20s, landed her group of winners – Showdown ($1.95 fav), Lily Monelli ($1.70 fav), Shanti  ($2.15 fav) and Ally Gal ($4.40) – at a mid-week Albion Park meeting.

“I believe it was my first four,” she said.

“I’ve had four winners on the same day before but they were at different tracks.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have several trebles but I’m pretty sure this is my first four at the same meeting.”

Cutlack is coming off a stellar 2022 in which she finished 21st on the national trainers premiership with 157 winners (237 placings), prizemoney in excess of  $834,000 and a 23 per cent winning strike rate.

“It was my best season so far,” she said.

And not one to rest on her laurels, the young trainer said ‘we just have to keep going’.

“It’s always nice to do better than the year before and with more dogs coming through, I think it is achievable this year.”

Cutlack said, as much as it was nice to win Group races, her main focus was maintaining a good winning strike rate.

And she has pushed it up to 26 per cent (winning strike rate) at Albion Park for January with 12 wins and prizemoney topping $134,000 on the back of Shaye’s all-the-way victory  in the $110,000 Group 2 Golden Sands (600m) earlier in the month.

Cutlack will be chasing more Group glory at Albion Park on Thursday night with Sorority in the Group 3 Garrard’s Gold Cup (710m) and Lily Monelli and Showdown lining up in the $43,125 Listed TAB Golden Oldies (520m).

Meanwhile, other trainers to land four winners at their ‘local’ track included Steele Bolton with Red Revolver ($4.90), My Shout Zoe ($2.40 fav), Pretty Witch ($2.40 fav), and Midnight Vandal ($1.90) at Darwin’s Winnellie Park, Ed Medhurst, who rugged up Ah We’re Tight ($2.30), Ahsoka Tano ($21), Gracious Gift ($2,60) and Power Band ($2 fav) at Hobart and Tracie Price with Buster Banjo ($1.35 fav), Compton Amy ($19), Blue Sky Boy ($1,90 fav), and Donny Rocks ($1.65 fav) at Mount Gambier’s Tara Raceway.

Lisa and Mark Delbridge shared a ‘four’ at Ballarat with Lisa producing Spring Blessing ($3.70), Nyali King ($1,50 fav) and Bella Sugar ($6) and Mark successful with Vendetta Reef ($13.50), while the Thompsons, Clinton and Juanita, also had a quartet of winners at Rockhampton – Clinton leading in Systems Down ($2.40 fav), Job Done ($2.20 fav) and Rybolt ($1.35 fav) and Juanita with Rosa’s Routine ($5.50).
