Greyhounds to be a part of Ipswich Show

\"\"THEY may already be at home at the Ipswich Showgrounds, but for the first time greyhounds will be a part of the Ipswich Show.

Racing Queensland Greyhound Sweepstakes, already a success at the Brisbane EKKA, will debut at the 2021 Ipswich Show on May 15.

Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club secretary Di O’Donnell said the Greyhound Sweepstakes was more like a ‘beauty pageant’.

“We don\’t race in this event. We treat this like a beauty pageant,” she said. “We employ an All Breeds Championship judge to go over our greyhounds and place them in an order as to what they desire according to the conformation of the dog.

“The aim of the Racing Greyhound Sweepstakes is to promote the racing industry and the racing greyhound from puppy, preparation for racing, racing and of course retirement.”

Entries for the sweepstakes close Friday, April 23, or until the maximum number of entries is received. For more information go to:
