Each month Chase will highlight the story behind Queensland’s most recent complete monthly breeding statistics: October, 2021
By DAVID BRASCH
ROCKHAMPTON race caller, Liam Mulry, learned to contain his glee whenever royally bred Rose Ali was looming up to win on her home track.
And win she did! The daughter of My Bro Fabio-Born Ali was successful 20 times and placed 26 times for stakes of $55,000.
Liam bought her from her breeder, Victorian Noel Mugavin, and the exercise was wonderful, the bitch making the final of the G3 Rocky Cup and she was a multiple city winner over 520m and 710m.
Now the bitch has whelped her first litter of pups – three dogs and three bitches – by champion sire Barcia Bale and Liam has retained them all, except for one he gave the bitch’s trainer Darren Taylor.
Rose Ali is a litter sister to Group 1 performers Grace Ali (21 wins, $237,000), Sweet As Emm (19 wins, $136,000) and Rasheda (15 wins, $105,000). Their mother Born Ali won the Group 1 WA Galaxy and is the dam of Barcali (by Barcia Bale) winner of the Group 1 Bold Trease and Benali a multiple Group winner.
What is even more interesting is that both Grace Ali and Rasheda have also recently produced litters by Barcia Bale and Sweet As Emm will also be mated to him.
Winged Runner Trophy winner and Group placed, Frieda Las Vegas (My Bro Fabio-Droopys Hope) has also whelped her first litter – six dogs and three bitches by Fernando Bale.
Frieda ran 29.65 and 34.65 around Albion Park in her 22 wins for stakes of $125,000.
Her mother, Droopys Hope, won the Group 1 English Oaks and Gymcrack Stakes.
The Fernando Bale/My Bro Fabio cross is proven to Group 1 level both in Australia and New Zealand.
Dan and Kylie Henry’s Give It Some (Magic Sprite-Tina’s Show) is reported to have a young litter about to hit the racetrack and showing enormous potential.
The bitch won seven races and earned $28,000, but was also a finalist in the G3 Vince Curry Maiden, Ipswich Young Guns and Ipswich Futurity.
Give It Some has whelped four dogs and six bitches in a mating to that fine stud dog Allen Deed, the sire of such Group stars as Qwara Bale, Stanley Road, Jax Bale etc.
Déjà vu Rock is also royally bred by Fernando Bale-Punk Rock Lass, a pedigree almost identical to champion Sennachie.
Sennachie is Fernando Bale-Rhonda Rocks and Rhonda Rocks’ mother is Punk Rock Lass.
Déjà vu Rock won three races during a brief career including a city win at Albion Park. She came from a litter that also boasted Undisputed (13 wins, $72,000).
Now the bitch has produced a VERY interesting litter of three dogs and two bitches, by the late, great Just The Best.
Just The Best, of course, is the great son of Credibility-Flying Amy who was whelped in 1997 and became a super sire.
Terry Medcalf has had great success with Cool Pyjamas and her progeny. The classy Shot Clock (20 wins, $65,000) was a top grader at Albion Park.
Shot Clock’s litter sister, Hot Pyjamas has just whelped a litter of pups by Sennachie five dogs and three bitches.
