Emerging chaser More Deductions recorded the biggest victory of his career to date when he took out the Group 3 Mandurah Cup (490m) at Tabtouch Park Mandurah in the first half of October.

The former Victorian speedster, now under the guidance of Nambeelup based trainer Paul Stuart, handled the Peel circuit perfectly during the Mandurah Cup series despite the fact that he’d never raced competitively at the track previously.

More Deductions mowed down the leading Mermaid Monelli to win during the heat stage and then showed another dimension to his racing with an all-the-way performance in the trophy decider.

Not normally noted for his rapid starts More Deductions launched nicely from the rails alley to set himself up in a great position early.

He landed on terms with his rivals and with the benefit of the inside running was able to push through into the lead.

Once he hit the front More Deductions was always going to be hard to run down and he held off the determined pursuit of eventual runner-up Pixie Monelli to score by a length and half in 27.43.

More Deductions joined Stuart’s kennels midway through the year after showing plenty promise from a handful of races on the east coast.

He’s more than paid his way for his new trainer with regular wins and a quick rise through the grades.

“There’s no doubt he’s been a great pick up for us,” Stuart said of More Deductions.

“He was a young dog on the way up when he came over and he’s progressed really nicely.

“He found it a little tough when he first started hitting the top level dogs, but he’s getting to the right age now and starting to work it out so hopefully he’ll be competitive in the Free To All ranks for a while yet.”
