Each month Chase will highlight the story behind Queensland’s most recent complete monthly breeding statistics: April, 2021
By DAVID BRASCH
WOW … there’s much to write about from the April listing of whelpings in Queensland.
The standouts are obviously the eight dogs and four bitches whelped by record-breaking Champagne Sally (Barcia Bale-Bizarre Barbie) to Sennachie, and the two dogs and two bitches from the great Cyndie’s Magic (Magic Sprite-Regal Silver) to Dyna Double One.
Champagne Sally’s first litter, by Out Of Range, are just starting to race and include Out Of Champagne who ran a maiden record of 30.33 on debut at Ipswich. It is an exciting litter with a capital ‘E’.
Cyndie’s first litter, by Fernando Bale, are hugely successful.
The Dyna Double One/Magic Sprite cross is proven to Group 1 level via Peter Mosman Opal winner Lilly Banner and Tassie star Wynburn Lethal.
But, there are some very interesting matings among the whelpings.
Joanne Price is a VERY GOOD breeder and trainer.
Her bitch Crazy Vixon (Westmead Osprey-Vixon Lass) has whelped four dogs and four bitches to US stud great Bella Infrared. Crazy Vixon (21 wins, $55,000) was a finalist in the G1 Brisbane Cup.
But, her mother Vixon Lass was mated to Bella Infrared to produce a wonderful litter that include the iron dogs Infrared Lad (27 wins, $199,000), Infrared Star (17 wins, $144,000), Ash Star (24 wins, $113,000) and Crazy Bella (19 wins, $71,000).
Why wouldn’t Joanne put Crazy Vixon to Bella Infrared.
Joanne has been busy.
Her former G3 Sydney Cup winning bitch Apatite (Fear Zafonic-Suzie Be Good) has whelped her first litter, four dogs and five bitches by exciting young stud dog Orson Allen.
Apatite won 24 races and $97,000.
The very good race bitch, Sure You Can (Don’t Knocka Him-Where Are You), winner of 14 races and already a proven dam in litters by Mepunga Blazer and Outa Credit, has whelped three dogs and four bitches by Johnny McCarthy’s star galloper Slick.
Slick was second in the G1 Temlee, Brisbane Cup, Paws Of Thunder, G2 Ipswich Auction and a finalist in the G1 Australian Cup and G3 Ipswich Cup.
Darren Russell had a huge wrap on Anda Marie (My Bro Fabio-Lady Jasmin), a 29.96 Novice winner at Albion Park, who broke down after only five race starts.
She has produced a litter of eight dogs and two bitches by Fernando Bale and this is the very same cross as Steve Kavanagh’s Group stars Louis Rumble and Rumble Ranger.
They are by Fernando Bale from the Dulcinea/Hannalore damline.
