Each month Chase will highlight the story behind Queensland’s most recent complete monthly breeding statistics: November, 2021

SOME fascinating whelpings among the latest Queensland listing, one by an age-old stud dog, another bred on some amazing proven crosses, another from a racetrack star – all going to prove the confidence of greyhound breeders in this industry.

The three dogs and four bitches whelped early in November by Go Wild Teddy-Eulogia was a fascinating exercise in proven crosses.

Go Wild Teddy, the 1998 whelp, has proven himself through the deeds of his great sons Barcia Bale and Dyna Lachlan. This must be one of the very last vials of semen for the great dog.

Eulogia (KC And All-Reshuffle) won the Mick Byrne Memorial at Albion Park where she also broke 30-seconds several times. She is a lightly raced litter sister to Kiss And Spin (G3 Flying Amy Classic, finalist G2 Qld Futurity) and Money Spinner (finalist Ipswich Derby). Their dam Reshuffle ran 29.81 winning at Albion Park in just four starts.

This is the famed Magic Gairn direct female family.

The Go Wild Teddy-Eulogia mating brings in the proven crosses found in such greats as Barcia Bale, Orson Allen and Aston Rupee. Jeff Crawford and Nick Arena put together the mating and two years cannot come quick enough to see the result.

Rob Jacobsen initially bought Crazy Cool (Barcia Bale-Crazy Sexy) with the ideal purpose of having her as a future broodbitch.

She has just whelped four dogs and five bitches to a mating to champ sire Fernando Bale.

It was the obvious way for Rob to go, the Fernando/Barcia ‘nick’ proven to Group 1 level.

But, along the way, Rob’s ‘future broodbitch’ made a name for herself on the racetrack winning the G2 Richmond Oaks, G3 Gold Ticket, running second in the G1 Gold Bullion, G2 Qld Futurity, G2 Golden Sands, and making the finals of the G1 Sapphire Crown and Origin Sprint.

She really was a special race bitch.

Her litter brother Canya Cruise ran track records at Albion Park and Mandurah and was a finalist in the G1 Perth Cup.

Rob is selling a couple of the litter … bring your cheque book.

A hugely interesting whelping is the four dogs and three bitches by Bearability-Red Calibre.

Bearability (Credibility-Kissy Bear) was a 1996 whelp. He set a Toowoomba track record and won 12 of 13 before dropping a back muscle. He got his chance at stud and sired Melbourne Cup winner Excite Ability, Galaxy winner Bitability Bale, Mick Zammit’s scorching sprinter Zaability, G1 Hobart 1000 winner Star Witch (4th mother of Fabregas), and of course John and Lil Edwards’ grand bitch Ellie’s Diamond.

Red Calibre (Spring Gun-Ruby Jet), the dam of the Bearability litter, was a finalist in the G1 National Futurity and has as her third mother the great producer Mockingbird Hill.

Other whelpings include:

The classy Regal Topaz whelped three dogs and six bitches by Bernardo.

She’s A Sort, mother of recent G2 Qld Derby winner Just A Sort, had five dogs and three bitches by Hooked On Scotch.

Classy Boscono (My Bro Fabio-Beauty Bale) had seven dogs and four bitches by Bewildering. She was a Albion and Wenty winner and won the Capalaba Futurity and has a hugely in-bred pedigree.

G3 Vince Curry Maiden winner Rose Honey (Fear Zafonic-Wag Tail) has whelped a three dog and one bitch litter by Moving Target.

Townsville raced, Moving Target is a litter brother to G1 staying star Stanley Road.
