Chase’s MIKE HILL highlights trainers who have celebrated multiple winners at meetings across the nation in the past week

LEADING South Australian trainer Tony Rasmussen is poised to lead in his 200th winner for the year following a massive effort at Murray Bridge last Friday.

The Gifford Hill-based conditioner rugged up six winners at the 12-race day meeting, while Team Rasmussen was successful in eight with Tony’s wife Lisa landing a double.

It was a massive day for the couple who have been training since the 90s and for Rasmussen, who is sitting in sixth spot on the national trainers points table, it took his overall season tally to 197 wins.

He was successful with Live It ($2 fav), Victa Makayla ($23), Cawbourne Attack ($2.70), Bernardo Bowl ($3.40 fav), Cawbourne Donna ($6) and Most Wanted ($2.70), while Lisa led in Thanks Joan ($6.50) and Canya Razor ($2.40).

Live It was one of the more impressive winners over the 395m trip.

The maiden performer was having only his second race start and after a fair getaway exploded to a nine-length victory in a smart 22.40s.

Rasmussen is currently leading the Murray Bridge club’s trainers’ premiership points table with 49 wins to Lauren Harris’ 50, but he has a superior advantage thanks to more minor placings, while he’s heading for his sixth successive title at Angle Park.

With 106 victories, he has a 41-win advantage over his closest rival Clint Trengove (65) in the Adelaide club trainers award.

“We have won numerous Listed, Group 3 and Group 2 level races, including SA Sprint and SA Distance Championships, SA Derby, Gawler Cup, and Murray Bridge Cup,” Lisa Rasmussen said in a recent interview.

“We have been finalists in a few Group 1s, including a placing in the Adelaide Cup, and we’re continuing to work towards winning the elusive Group 1 race.”

“We have raced dogs in every State of Australia, including the Darwin Cup final, and also represented SA in Christchurch in New Zealand.

“We have also trained SA greyhound of the year, and many finalists as well.”

Meanwhile, six trainers across the country produced winning quartets at their ‘home’ tracks.

Ken Boody and Dallas Beckett dominated at Rockhampton’s mid-week meeting with four winners each, Tracie Price landed his ‘four’ at Mount Gambier, Steele Bolton was on fire at Darwin, Gary Johnson rugged up a quartet at Launceston and Jack Trengove produced four well-supported winners at Murray Bridge.

Trainers with winning trebles included Peter Rodgers (at Wentworth Park), Steele Bolton (Darwin), Jason Formosa (Shepparton), Tracie Price (Mt Gambier), Donna Knight (Bendigo), Jedda Cutlack (Ipswich), Nicole Price (Gawler), Brad Cook (Cannington), Michael Stringer (Hobart), Brad Belford (Townsville), Damien Crudeli (Mandurah) and Daniel and Rebecca Gibbons (Ballarat).
