THE obvious standout among recent Queensland whelpings is the repeat mating of SH Avatar-See Blue’s Girl, the first mating providing Million Dollar Chase winner Handsome Prince.

This latest offering has two dogs and three bitches for breeder Mick Waters in Townsville.

Handsome Prince (11 wins, $1.036 million) also ran a Launceston track record and has since gone to stud.

The litter also included Group 1 finalist Ava Wine (11 wins, $52,000).

Also in the litter is Splotched (4 wins) a finalist in the Tassie Breeders Classic who has also just whelped a litter, one dog and three bitches by boom young sire Aston Dee Bee.

All the pups from both litters are for sale.

Gold Coast ‘doc’ George Clegg bred classy stayer Cool Talk (Thirty Talks-Bralyn Casey), the winner of eight races and $36,000.

The bitch has just whelped her first litter, six dogs and four bitches by champion sire Barcia Bale. Cool Talk came from a litter of 12 and nine of them were winners. She is also a half sister to George’s star galloper Big Bad Bob (G3 Tville Cup).

That great race dog, Hooked On Scotch, is attracting plenty of work with broodbitch owners.

Among his whelpings is six dogs and four bitches from proven Group producing Oren Ishii (Fabregas-Avondale Dancer).

Oren Ishii won 16 races and $35,000 and is already the dam of a litter by Mister Twister which includes Group winner Chrissie Banner (19 wins, $88,000). All 10 of that litter have been winners.

And, the mating to Hooked On Scotch brings in some wonderful and proven crosses.

Stuart Thompson has been a devoted studier of pedigrees for many, many years and he has whelped a Hooked On Scotch-Quality Jewel litter of six dogs and three bitches.

The dam won seven and is a litter sister to star gallopers Fernando Blaster (21 wins, $157,000) and Painted Picture (27 wins, $110,000) being by Fernando Bale-Amy Lyndan.

The litter brings in a Nicki Fields/Fernando Bale link that has already produced Group 1 superstars Poke The Bear and Out Of Range.
