Each month Chase will highlight the story behind Queensland’s most recent complete monthly breeding statistics: September, 2021
By DAVID BRASCH
SIRES on Ice took a bit of a gamble some years ago when they decided to back Group 1 star Zambora Brockie at stud.
And HOW that worked out for them with the son of Nitro Burst-Flying Liddy proving an instant hit and now is one of Australia\’s great sires.
Among the first progeny by Brockie to hit the racetrack was a litter from the Barcia Bale bitch Lilly Sur Seine.
From that first moment, the litter literally exploded onto the racetrack.
Stars like Sequana, No Easy Beat, Made In America, Inspired Hope all pushed Zambora Brockie front and centre of greyhound breeders.
Now, Sires On Ice principal Tony Wiseman is also putting his faith in yet another member of that Zambora Brockie-Lilly Sur Seine litter, the high class sprinter Stinger Noir.
Stinger Noir will stand at stud with Sires On Ice for a fee of $1320 and he brings to the stud ranks some wonderful race performances at the highest level.
Stinger Noir started 67 times for 25 wins, 15 seconds and nine thirds for stakes of $146,000.
He won the Qld final of the National Sprint, the Australia Day Trophy, was 3rd in the Listed Super Sprinters, Capalaba Young Guns, a finalist in the G3 Ipswich Gold Cup, G3 Townsville Cup, Ipswich Young Guns, Capalaba Cup and Million Dollar Chase Consolation.
He ran a flying 29.61 at Albion Park … YES 29.61!
Stinger Noir is from a wonderful litter that also included Sequana (26 wins, $144,000, 2nd G3 Golden Ticket, 3rd Ips Futurity, finalist G2 Qld Futurity, G2 Lismore Cup, Eric Thomson Mdn, Winged Runner Tphy, Qld final Nat Sprint, Alb Pk 29.66), Easy Al (15 wins, $33,000), Made In America (20 wins, $51,000, Capalaba Derby, 2nd Cap Young Guns, finalist Ips Auction 431m, Capalaba Cup twice), Inspired Hope (finalist Capalaba Futurity) and the luckless No Easy Beat (8 wins, $39,000, Silver Dollars, Alb Pk 29.60) etc.
Stinger Noir has a fabulous pedigree line bred 4×3 to US stud great Kiowa Sweet Trey and 4×4 to the litter brothers Trendy Leigh and Brett Lee.
Meanwhile, this month’s list of Queensland whelpings is highlighted by the six-bitch litter produced by Kinloch Beach (Kinloch Brae-Mantra Style).
The litter is by My Redeemer, the son of Fernando Bale who is starting to prove his worth as a bright young stud dog.
But Kinloch Beach is really something special for owner Scott Duffy.
The winner of 13 races and $36,000 in stakes, she has proven to be a broodbitch goldmine.
Her first litter to race, by Fernando Bale, is highlighted by Group 1 star Farmor Beach (23 wins, $270,000) the winner of both the G2 Vince Vince Curry Maiden and the Group 2 Ipswich Gold Cup.
He has also been a finalist in the G1 Golden Easter Egg and a multiple feature race placegetter and finalist.
Also from Kinloch Beach’s litter by Fernando Bale is Fernando Beach (12 wins, $65,000) also a multiple Group placegetter and finalist.
