Correct nominating procedures

\"\"As RQ moves to 100% online nominating by the start of 2022, it is important that trainers understand optimal nominating procedures when using the OzChase system.

Nominations need to be clear and concise and contain no ambiguity that could cause confusion and lead to a greyhound being drawn in an incorrect race. The use of the preference boxes is the correct method of nominating as this clearly states the races the trainer prefers and the order in which they prefer them.

All preferences should be displayed using the drop down preference boxes and not written in the comments box. Most of the time, a comment is not required, as the preference boxes are sufficient, however if there is something specific you’d like the grading department to be made aware of, the comment box is the space to do so.

For normal graded races and mixed grade races, including heats of these races, all comments for specific races e.g., ‘5th grade only’, ‘no Best 8’ etc. will be disregarded by the grading department as per the grading policy.

Unacceptable comments include:

  • ‘5th grade only’
  • ‘No best 8 – 3/4 only’
  • ‘No mixed grades’
  • ‘Pathways preferred’
  • ‘Masters preferred’
  • ‘Inside box only’

Acceptable comments include:

  • ‘Masters only’ or ‘Masters or graded’
  • ‘Novice only’ or ‘Novice or graded’
  • ‘Pathways only’ or ‘Pathways or graded’
  • ‘Early race request – bad kennel dog’

If you would like further clarity regarding correct nominating procedures, please refer to the grading policy or contact the grading department at grading@racingqueensland.com.au or call 1800851155.
