NOT only are there some very special race and broodbitches among this month’s list of Qld whelpings, but some VERY interesting litters have just been born as well.
First cab off the rank is the Bago Bye Bye-Javens litter of two dogs and six bitches. Training great Darren Russell prepared both so was behind this mating.
Bago Bye Bye (Barcia Bale-Keira’s Charm) won the G1 Albion Park Gold Cup and G1 NZ Cup and was a multiple Group performer. Darren trained Javens (KC And All-She’s Scandalous) to win seven races and $44,000 and she was a very strong stayer.
Thalia’s Way (Spring Gun-Miami Gold) is a glamour broodbitch after the deeds of her son Black Comanche (by Zambora Brockie) during the recent G3 Vince Curry Maiden series at Ispwich.
She has whelped three dogs and three bitches to Bernardo.
Thalia’s Way was second in the G3 Chairman’s Cup at Wentworth Park and a finalist in the G1 Winter Cup at Albion Park. You won’t get this litter for $3500!
Albion Park Young Guns winner Common Ground (Kinloch Brae-Titan Ash) has whelped three dogs and five bitches by Orson Allen. It is the proven Barcia Bale/Up And Down cross found in the Burman’s great Champagne Sally.
Group 1 Bold Trease finalist Slick Raven (My Bro Fabio-Raven Pearl) has also whelped to Orson Allen, five dogs and five bitches. She is from a wonderful, wonderful direct damline that is reinforced within her own pedigree.
The mating to Orson Allen also produced a 4×4 of the famous litter brothers Hallucinate and Where’s Pedro.
Trainer Kevin Ellis and owner Steve Williams still have the smile on their faces from the days when Velocity Bettina (Zambora Brockie-Velocity Shirl) was taking all before her.
She won the G3 Golden Sands, the G3 Super Stayers, the Dashing Corsair, the Ipswich Futurity and Ipswich Grand Prix and was a multiple Group placegetter and finalist.
She has just whelped five dogs and four bitches to Black Magic Opal.
It is a proven cross that boasts a reinforcement of the famed Genuine Replica female family already proven via G1 stars True Detective and Lightning Frank.
And it just happens to be the cross found in superstar bitch Black Opium.
The Burman-bred Dynamite Lucy (Paw Licking-Bizarre Barbie) ran second in a Publicans Cup, third in a Young Guns and G2 Qld Futurity and was a finalist in the G2 Futurity again and the G3 Golden Ticket.
She has whelped a one dog litter by Tommy Shelby.
Ipswich Gold Cup winner Wise Misty (Paw Licking-Wise Forecast) also has whelped a Tommy Shelby litter, five dogs and seven bitches.
It is an ideal mating for Wise Misty, duplicating and balancing Bombastic Shiraz and doing the same with Token Prince.
The Zammit family, Mick his wife Selena and their daughter Carlie, whelped three dogs and two bitches with their Group finalist Paint Face (Fernando Bale-Alpha Demeter).
She was a finalist in the Group 2 Qld Futurity and a city winner, but also a litter sister to G1 stars Do It and Mr Fix It.
It is the proven Barcia Bale/Fernando Bale cross.
The Zammits will sell some to long-time clients.
Waddling Witch (Dyna Double One-Paul’s Memory) was the winner of six races and $34,000 and a Young Guns finalist at Albion Park where she ran 29.74.
She is also a litter sister to star stayer Mick’s Recall (16 wins, $126,000) a multiple Group star.
Waddling Witch has five dogs and four bitches by champion sire Fernando Bale. Those pups also bring in proven crosses via a reinforcement of the Gail’s Beauty family, and proven Fernando Bale crosses with both Fabregas and Collision in the pedigree of ‘The Witch’.
One litter that deserves mention is the two dogs and eight bitches by Ben’s Fury-Peekaboo Pearl.
Ben’s Fury (Awesome Assassin-Bonnie April) was whelped in 2002 and won the 2005 G1 Silver Chief.
